After about one month the general and presidential elections will be held.
The debates of the candidates got behind. Now it’s time to work for the parties.
We can hear party songs from every street in Diyarbakir.
One of the parties that have strong preparations for the elections is the Workers’ Party of Turkey (TİP).
TIP is not only a part of the Labor and Freedom Alliance but also they have shown a parliamentary candidate in 49 cities.
Even though the TIP party has not any candidate from city of Kurdistan, they are criticized by HDP supporters.
In their office, we came together to ask our question to the Chairman of the Turkish Workers’ Party of Diyarbakir, Mehmet Mahir Karadeniz.
At the entrance of the office, we saw the pictures of Friedrich Engels, Karl Marx, and Vladimir Lenin welcoming us. And also “TIP Amed” is written on the wall.
“We will support the Green Left Party in Kurdistan”
People are reacting because they still think that we will go to elections in Diyarbakir. Maybe because of the earthquake process, we did not explain ourselves well. Through you, we can say here that we will support the Green Left Party in Diyarbakir and the Kurdistan Region and work for them.
Mahir Akdeniz
Akdeniz states that their main goal should topple the regime of the palace and establishment a parliament where workers, laborers, and farmers can see themselves.
We asked him: ‘In how many cities where you have nominated are there HDP candidates? Won’t this divide the vote of the alliance?
This will not happen because our voters for us are different. Every vote will work. Women and young people love us. We are very different from other parties. We are the party of workers, students, and farmers. All sides take a fancy to us. This is getting increase every time.
Mahir Akdeniz
According to the President of the Turkish Workers’ Party of Diyarbakir, sympathy for them will show itself in the ballotations.
He calls on the people of Diyarbakir and wants to support them in this struggle and win more parliamentarians for the Union of Labor and Freedom.
When was the party founded?
Turkish Workers’ Party (TİP) was founded on November 7, 2017, under the leadership of Erkan Bas.
The party appointed two deputies from the HDP lists to the parliament in 2018.
Then those two representatives resigned from HDP and formed their group in the parliament.
Ahmet Sik from HDP and Serra Kadigil from CHP joined the TIP.
The party is one of the components of the Labor and Freedom Alliance, and also in some cities, it will participate in the May 14 elections.
Currently, it has 4 representatives in the Turkish parliament.
