Adiyaman: CHP says that the power of the AK party has broken in the city

Adiyaman, called Samsur by some Kurds, is known for its population of Kurmanci, Zaza, Turks, Alawi and Sunnis. The tradition of conservative-religious parties is strong in this city. Since the early 2000s, this city has focused on the AK party. According to the Republican People’s Party (CHP), the people who survived the February 6, 2023 earthquake were left heartbroken from the AK party and they drew near to them.

Burak Binzed of the CHP officials in Adiyaman says that the earthquake is a disaster and that no one can stop, but he says that due to the late intervention after the earthquake, even the survivors died under the rubble. According to Binzed, Adiyaman’s tendency toward conservative parties is a fact, but he says that the situation has changed with the earthquake.

Due to the changes in the situation, and the destruction of houses and buildings, the CHP is forced to carry out its work in tents and cafes.

“Adıyaman Kıraathanesi” has become the center of the CHP in the city.

Fans of the CHP talk about the earthquake and politics in this center.

Almost everyone that we talked to informed us that 30-40 of their relatives died in the earthquake.

The center in Adiyaman is connected to the centers in Ankara and Istanbul via Halk TV.
