Amedspor Board Pledges Action Against Referee Errors and Fan Restrictions

The club’s consultative body met to address systemic inequalities and announced a legal complaint against a Sakaryaspor executive

The Amedspor Consultative Board convened on Feb. 20, 2026, to address a series of recent challenges facing the club, ranging from officiating errors to legal restrictions on its fanbase. In a statement following the session, the board emphasized its commitment to challenging what it described as “unlawful practices” through both judicial and diplomatic channels.

Referee conduct and stadium bans

The board identified officiating errors during recent matches as “unacceptable” and stated that efforts to seek redress with relevant sports authorities are ongoing. Central to the discussions were the ongoing spectator restrictions under Law No. 6222, which have resulted in block-based bans for Amedspor fans. The board noted that it is actively engaging with administrative institutions to ensure that supporters can attend matches without facing discriminatory hurdles.

Legal action over provocative remarks

A significant portion of the meeting focused on recent social media comments made by a Sakaryaspor executive. The individual reportedly invoked the name of the late Police Chief Gaffar Okkan while targeting Amedspor, a move the board characterized as “ugly and provocative.” Consequently, the club has decided to file a formal criminal complaint, vowing to pursue the matter to the fullest extent of the law to protect its institutional reputation.

International sports diplomacy

To counter what it views as a climate of discrimination, Amedspor announced plans to elevate its concerns to international sports organizations. The board expressed a desire to foster a competitive environment aligned with universal sporting values rather than political tension. Members agreed on a corporate communication strategy to provide the public with accurate information and to mitigate the impact of manipulative content across digital platforms.
