The Kurdish journalist who interviewed the father of Jina Emini was released

In Iran, the Kurdish journalist Nazila Marofilana, who had interviewed the father of Jina Emini, was arrested on July 8.

According to the statement of the Human Rights Organization of Hengaw, the female journalist was released from prison today with a bail of 300 million tumen.

Marofilana was arrested for “making propaganda against the regime with her news”.

According to CPJ’s report, at least 95 journalists have been arrested in the country after the protests of Jina Amini.

What happened?

On September 13, 2022, a Kurdish girl named Jina Emini was arrested and killed under surveillance because her clothes were not according to Islamic customs.

After her murder, protests broke out across the country and hundreds of people lost their lives.
