Quickfire Dialogue with Fırat Aydınkaya

If you write a letter to God, what would you say?

Do you remember when you said to your angels, “I am going to place a successive human authority on earth.” They asked you, “Will You place in it someone who will spread corruption there and shed blood while we glorify Your praises and proclaim Your holiness?” You responded, “I know what you do not know.”

Do you still think like that, God?

Who is the person that you love most?

Ehmedê Xanî and Elo Dîno.

What would you not want to happen if you built a world for yourself?

I would want a world without iron. Because iron means gun and hierarchy.

What is your favourite book?

Mem and Zîn and The Divan of Melayê Cizîrî.

When you are dead, who would you most like to visit your grave? (It does not matter if s/he is dead or alive)

I want Xanî to come to my grave and say: Don’t be sad and don’t worry, we’ll be free for sure. Slavery is not a fate.

What worries you the most?

The colonisation of the Kurds and the situation of the Kurdish language.

If you scratch one name to Diyarbakir’s walls, whose name would it be?

The words of Alişêr: The right is right, Kurdistan is Kurdistan.

Which period do you want to live in?

The period of Melayê Cizîrî live in. I would want to hear this sentence from him:

“Min go mehê new çaşitîyê ebrûwê yarê

Go min çi hed e şubhetê ne’lê feres im ez”

If you were born one more time, what would you do again?

I was a shepherd when I was little. I would shepherd for the rest of my life.

What would you most like to do before you die?

I would like to make a magic key that can open all the doors of the prisons. This key would open both the doors of domination and the doors of the heart.

What do you most dream about?

I dreamed about a world that I can dream in.

What is the pain in your heart in this life?

Shame on fate. We didn’t have even a little freedom.

If you wanted to change something about yourself, what would it be?

I would read Dostoevsky when I was 10 and I would write my first text in my mother language.

What is your biggest achievement?

My biggest achievement is my failure. Because we are under colonisation.
