The Botan Times website began actively reporting in late 2022. With news of Gülistan Korban, Beril Caymaz and Qesim Etmaneki and articles by Serdar Şengül and Canan Yalçın, as well as news and articles by Omer Faruk Baran, it is on the agenda of Kurdish readers. According to Google Analytics, Botan Times is the most read Kurdish news website in Turkey. In addition, Botan Times English translates some of these news and articles into English. Yonca Sarsılmaz is editor and translator of this part.
Botan Times will expand its author scope with a new project supported by the Chrest Foundation. In different perspectives and fields, almost 22 authors will be represented in Botan Times with their articles. Ekrem Yıldız is the editor of the opinion service and some of these news will be podcast by Semiha Yıldız.
Who will write in Botan Times oninion service?
Zana Farqînî
Zana Farqînî was born in Diyarbakir in 1967. He completed his sociology studies at Istanbul University and earned his master’s degree in Kurdish language and culture at Mardin Artuklu University. His first step into the publishing industry was working for Rewşen magazine. He is one of the founders of Mesopotamia Foundation. He writes many articles about Kurdish language in different magazines, newspapers and other digital media. He has also created one of the largest Kurdish-Turkish dictionaries.
Roşan Lezgin
Roşan Lezgin was born in Diyarbakır in 1964. He attended only the 4th grade, but completed his studies at a distance. He has been a writer since 1996. He has written 19 books and translated 19 books as well. He is the founder of www.zazaki.net.
Reha Ruhavioglu
He is a researcher. He has had careers in various organizations. He is one of the founders of Rawest Research and now director of the Kurdish Studies Center. This organization conducts political and social studies on the Kurds in Turkey.
İnan Eroğlu
He was born in 1994 and graduated in Kurdish language and literature. He works as an editor, translator and proofreader in different organizations. He has written two story books. At the beginning of the year 2023, he founded Pall Publishing House.
Şexo Fîlîk
He was born in Adıyaman, he graduated from primary school teacher training. His articles and translations have been published in various journals in Kurdish and Turkish. Now he works as a lawyer in Diyarbakır.
Yehya Omerî
Yehya Omerî was born in Mardin in 1993. He is a poet. He has two volumes of poetry, one of which was published in 2015 and the other in 2021.
Şener Özmen
Şener Özmen is a writer and artist born in Şırnak. Özmen lives in Chicago, USA. Although he was interested in poetry and caricature at a young age, he turned to contemporary art and Kurdish literature. He has published many works internationally.
Rizgar Elegez
He is a poet and writer, born in 1984 and has an education in sociology. So far, his poems and several short stories have been published in many Kurdish magazines. He is also the editor of several Kurdish books and his translations have been published in various literary journals.
Selamî Esen
He is a translator and writer. He was born in 1992 in Siirt. He finished his master’s degree at Mardin Artuklu University in 2019.
